Thank You

To say this 2021 Fall Season has been a challenge is an understatement. We have battled through some difficult days and came out stronger and more determined for next season.

To our players, thank you. Thank you for showing up every night ready to work, learn and have some fun. We may not have won a championship this year but the biggest victory we could have is hearing you all say you're coming back next year.

To our coaches, thank you. It takes a lot of time and patience to coach youth football and we are grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for being an an encouraging voice for our kids, for sharing your knowledge with us and for cheering these kids on no matter what the scoreboard showed.

To our parents, families and friends, thank you. It is a huge time commitment to get through a season and you did it with smiles on your faces and supporting words no matter what. We are very lucky to have you all as members of this club and we couldn't do what we do without you all. Thank you for cheering us on win or lose, rain or shine.

To the leagues, thank you. Your support is extremely important to us and we appreciate all of you for it. Our kids are thankful for the opportunities you provide them every year.  We look forward to working with you all for years to come!

We are looking forward to seeing you all back in 2022 for whatever level you are ready for! Keep an eye out for info in the new year!

Thank You Canadian Tire Jumpstart!

We are excited to share that the Calgary Rebels Football Club has been one of approximately 300 groups selected by Canadian Tire Jumpstart to receive a grant from the Sport Relief Fund. The fund helps community sports organizations like ours to continue to provide access to sport and play for Canadian kids.

This grant will go a long way in helping us replace equipment reaching the end of its lifespan. Our goal has been and will continue to be putting our kids on the field in the safest equipment possible. We are very grateful to Canadian Tire Jumpstart for their help in making this goal possible. We were able to replace 15 of our senior helmets with new F7 Schutt helmets. Thank you to Kahunaverse Sports for their help in making this happen.

If you can, please donate to Canadian Tire Jumpstart so they can continue to do the work they do in getting kids across this country involved in any sports imaginable. They have always come through for our club and we are eternally grateful for their support!

2021 Spring League Update

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the 2021 Spring League cancellation due to Covid-19.  The Spring League has come to the difficult decision to announce no games being possible due to ongoing restrictions. We support and agree with this decision as the health and safety of our membership is our top priority. We are sad to lose another season with our players but look forward to a time when we can all gather safely at the field. Until then, stay safe and healthy!

We are optimistic for the 2021 Fall season, please stay tuned for  updates!

An IMPORTANT Message From Our Board

An important letter from Spring League HC Jackie Kellogg

OUR CASINO AND COVID-19

Hello My Wonderful Volunteers,

I am sad to tell you, though not surprised in any way, that our casino that was scheduled for June 9th and 10th will have to be rescheduled. We just received word today that all Q2 (April-June) casinos have been cancelled and will be re-scheduled once the casinos open. I will reach out to you all again at that time to see if the positions that you had signed up for will still work. A couple of notes from the email we received are as below:

·       Charitable casino events in the second quarter (April 2 – June 30, 2020) will not proceed as scheduled.

·       Though casino events are disrupted, Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) will ensure that groups scheduled for casino events in the second quarter 2020 are rescheduled and accommodated first when casinos open.

·       When casinos eventually re-open, it will take a period of time for AGLC to reschedule all groups.

·       We do not know when casinos will open.

·       We will communicate details to groups with casino events when a plan is in place.

Thank you for you interest in helping, we look forward to working with you soon! I will reach out to you all as soon as we are given our new dates.

Thanks,

Michelle Anderson
Casino Coordinator

COVID-19 UPDATE

Below is the update from the Spring League Board on the current Spring League season and the ongoing COVID-19 issues. Please make sure you are following the proper social distancing measures put in place, we hope to see you all soon!

Hello All;

A brief update regarding our Calgary Spring Football League – 2020 Season.

All CSFA activities will remain suspended until the governmental authorities lift the restrictions for public gatherings. Once this happens, the Executive will reconvene and decide what the next steps will be.

The health and well-being of everyone involved in our league and their families is our first and foremost concern. As probable with most of you, our guidance in this situation comes from reliable authorities:

Please follow and adhere to the instructions and directions given from our Health and Government leaders so that we can all return to our normal day to day living.

CALGARY SPRING FOOTBALL CEASING OPERATIONS IMMEDIATELY DUE TO COVID-19

Coaches, Managers and Teams:

The Board of the Calgary Spring Football Association (“CSFA”) has been closely monitoring the news regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic. The Board has also been monitoring the directives of the governmental authorities (in particular Alberta Health Services) dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Board has also been in contact with the Calgary Minor Soccer Association, the Calgary Minor Hockey Association, and legal counsel.  We have also been contacted by doctors in the medical profession who have dealings with our Association.  The Board has consulted and decided that the best and proper course of action at this time is to cease all league operations temporarily.  That means that no CSFA team should be holding any practices, meetings or “gathering” of any nature.  We will continue to monitor the situation on a “daily” basis and let you know whether there is any change of plans.  To be clear, please do not hold any further practices, tryouts, or “get togethers” of any kind associated with your teams or with the CSFA.  If you need to converse on the matter with parents or others, you should do so via email or phone.  We regret this decision but after consultation and discussion, the Board believes this is the proper action to take at this time.  We are hoping matters get better and we can resume operations, however, the health of everyone involved is our paramount concern.  We will be discussing other matters affected by this decision shortly.  Baseline Testing appointments for this weekend and the next have been cancelled with Competitive Edge (CE), and CE is aware that we are on a ‘day to day’ basis.

Sincerely, Greg Peterson

(President of the Calgary Spring Football Association)
